TERMS AND CONDITIONS………..PLEASE READ!!
1.Please note that tortoises of different species must not be kept together.
2.The re-homer becomes a guardian of the tortoise, but ownership remains with the Tortoise Protection Group.
3.If the re-homer is no longer able to care for the tortoise(s), the animal(s) must be returned or re-homed subject to the Tortoise Protection Group’s approval. The tortoise should not be sold or swapped under any circumstances.
4.The Tortoise Protection Group reserves the right to remove any re-homed tortoise if at any time we feel it is not receiving the optimum care we expect.
PLEASE NOTE: The Tortoise Protection Group are against Mediterranean and African tortoises being housed in glass-type vivariums or fish tanks and will not re-home to anyone who keeps their tortoises in these types of set-ups.
The re-homed tortoise/s must be quarantined for a suitable time from any existing tortoises you may have.
Please remember, any tortoise which comes up for re-homing may not have been checked by a vet, and the Tortoise Protection Group cannot confirm that they are 100% healthy.
DOGS AND TORTOISES DO NOT MIX. IF YOU HAVE A DOG, HOWEVER TRUSTWORTHY YOU FEEL HE/SHE IS, THE TORTOISE MUST BE KEPT SECURELY AWAY FROM THE DOG AT ALL TIMES. DOG BITES CAUSE SERIOUS AND OFTEN FATAL INJURIES.
WE INSIST ALL GARDEN PONDS ARE SAFE AND SECURE: REMEMBER TORTOISES DO NOT SWIM.
HUSBANDRY: PLEASE DO TAKE TIME TO READ THROUGH THE TPG CARE SHEETS FOR THE SPECIES YOU ARE CONSIDERING REHOMING. THESE CAN BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE UNDER “THE TORTOISE”. THE TPG RUN A FORUM WHICH CAN BE ACCESSED FROM THE WEBSITE – IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING HUSBANDRY, OR ANY OTHER TORTOISE MATTER, WE WELCOME ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
PHOTOS OF BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SET-UPS WILL BE REQUIRED
Please consider a donation for the TPGs work. We are a group of volunteers striving to campaign against the importation of tortoises into the UK for the commercial pet trade. Please help and be assured that any donation gift, no matter how small, will be well spent working towards making a lasting difference for tortoises. We rely on your generosity to help our cause.
Although you will be added to our re-homing list, unfortunately this does not guarantee you will be offered a tortoise, as there are more good homes out there waiting than tortoises requiring them.
